Advantages and Disadvantages of Drinking Coffee

Monday, January 9, 2012

We most intake a caffeine in the form of coffee. I’ve been noticing that I drink for about 2-3 or more glasses a day of coffee. I just a little worried cause some says that too much caffeine is not good in our health. But as a programmer or say it a ‘trying hard programmer’, I need a cup of coffee to make me alive in the middle of the night.

So I made a research.

According to the American Dietetic Association’s Complete Food and Nutrition Guide, “For most healthy adults, moderate amounts of caffeine 200 to 300 milligrams a day, or about two cups of coffee poses no physical problem.”.

That proves my above statement.

But I write, too much is too much. So when you sip 3 cups of coffee a day, it will be harmful on your health. ‘Cause everything too much is not good.

And here is the list of advantages why most of us sip a cup coffee:

  • Keep You Awake and Alert
Most main reason why most of us drinks a cup of coffee a day. Coffee can boost concentration and therefore makes you more alert and awake.
  • Cut the Risk of Heart Disease by 25% for Women
  • Cut the Risk of Diabetes by 60%
  • Cut the Risk of Dementia by 65%
  • Cut the Risk of Colon Cancer by 50%
  • Lowered Risk of Advanced Prostate Cancer
  • Lowered Risk of Alzheimer Disease by 65%
  • Cut the Risk of Cirrhosis by 80%
  • Cut the Risk of Gallstones by Almost 50%
  • Cut the Risk of Stroke by 43% for Women
  • Cut the Risk of Parkinson Disease by 80%
  • Lowered the Risk of Committing Suicide by 60% for Women
  • High Level of Antioxidants
  • Caffeine acts as decongestant as it opens narrowed bronchial tubes.
And here is the list of disadvantages:
  • Too much coffee can be addictive, stimulate, and a mood charger
  • Excess in take of coffee can cause anxiety, nervousness and depression
  • Stomach upset
Coffee can cause ulcer. Coffee without solid food can damage the stomach.
  • Insomnia
  • Restlessness
  • Irritability
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Muscle tremors

To conclude, coffee is not bad in our health but taking too much of it will.

So, cheers! I will prepare my cup of coffee later. And again, monitor your daily consumption.
